معرفی
Hugo Bottemanne is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Philosophy at Sorbonne University's Faculty of Letters, combining clinical practice with groundbreaking research bridging philosophy and neuroscience. As head of clinic at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital's psychiatric department, he specializes in depression, maternal mental health, and Bayesian brain theory. His dual doctorates in medicine and philosophy (completed in 2019 and 2020) underpin his unique approach to integrating cognitive science, ethics, and clinical care.
Key research areas include: maternal interoception's role in perinatal depression, computational models of belief updating, psychedelic medicine efficacy, and neurocomputational mechanisms of mood disorders. He co-authored Dans le cerveau des mamans (2022), exploring maternal brain adaptations, and leads the Salpêtrière Conferences series popularizing mind sciences for the public.
Teaching focuses on integrating philosophy of mind into medical training, with involvement in Sorbonne University's psychiatry and midwifery curricula. His work emphasizes translational research, particularly the Bayesian brain theory's implications for understanding psychiatric disorders and treatment innovation.
Labs/Teams: Works at the Institut du Cerveau and collaborates with neuroscientist Philippe Fossati. Current projects explore ketamine's antidepressant effects on belief systems and the ethical dimensions of rapid-acting psychiatric therapies.
