His research critically examines the political economy of education through lenses of skill formation, globalization, and social inequality. Key themes include the knowledge economy's impact on educational policy, international school systems as sites of class reproduction, and democratic education's challenges within authoritarian contexts. His work consistently bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis of global economic shifts.
Recent publications (2021-2024) reveal concentrated focus on transnational educational mobility patterns, demonstrating how elite international schools feed graduates into global university hubs within major cities like London. This research exposes mechanisms of social stratification through educational pathways while analyzing tensions between meritocratic ideals and structural inequalities in the knowledge economy.
Key honors include:
- Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS)
With 37 doctoral students supervised, his grant leadership spans international projects including ESRC-funded Indigenous Youth and Skills Development (2021-2025) and Organisational Perspectives on Accountability and Learning in South Asia (2017-2020). Current collaborations address educational equity across Mexico, India, and Singapore.
His research ecosystem integrates ICHEM's higher education policy analysis, CASPS's social policy frameworks, and AI ethics through the UKRI CDT, fostering interdisciplinary teams examining education's role in sustainable development across six continents.
