Howard M. Prentice, Ph.D., is a Professor of Biomedical Science at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, Florida Atlantic University. He has held academic roles since 1993, including positions at the University of Glasgow and Stanford University. His research focuses on neuroprotection, ischemic stroke, and gene therapy for retinal diseases.

Research Interests:
His principal research focuses on tissue hypoxia and ischemia, molecular pathways of neuroprotection in stroke therapy, and gene therapy strategies for retinal diseases. He explores ER stress pathways, hypoxia-regulated gene therapy, and pharmacological preconditioning for myocardial and cerebral ischemia.
His translational work has led to patent awards and includes investigations into anti-apoptotic mechanisms and preconditioning pathways for neuroprotection.
