Dr Howard Davis is a Reader in Public Law at Bournemouth University, located at Weymouth House on the Talbot Campus. His work focuses on international law, human rights, public law, and legal theory. He has authored multiple books including The Right to the Truth in International Law (2019) and Human Rights Law Directions (2016). His research explores topics such as victims' rights at the International Criminal Court (ICC), the right to truth in European contexts, and legal frameworks governing public authorities.
Dr Davis has secured grants such as the Nuffield Foundation-funded project on victims' rights at the ICC (2012). He is a member of the Society of Legal Scholars since 1998 and has delivered invited lectures, including a Public Law Training Day at the Bank of England (2016). His publications span journals like International Journal of Human Rights and Cambridge Law Journal, covering areas from constitutional law to colonial legal history.
His research interests include transnational justice mechanisms, legal accountability, and historical legal systems, with a particular focus on Malta's legal evolution. He has collaborated extensively with scholars like Michael Klinkner and Brian Hough on projects addressing human rights, criminal law, and constitutional challenges.
