Houssein Samwel Kimaro is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Wildlife Management at the College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka, Tanzania. He is concurrently pursuing a PhD at the University of Glasgow, focusing on environmental controls on parasite infection dynamics at the wildlife-livestock interface. His research integrates ecology, parasitology, and conservation science to understand host-parasite interactions in ecosystems like the Serengeti.
Academic history includes a BSc in Wildlife Management (2013–2016), an MSc in Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management from NM-AIST (2017–2020), and his ongoing PhD (2021–2025). Key research interests include woody plant encroachment, gastrointestinal parasites in livestock, and environmental drivers of disease dynamics.
His work has been supported by grants from the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) and the Rufford Small Grant Foundation. Notable contributions include studies on Vachellia drepanolobium establishment and the impact of road proximity on insect communities. He has presented at conferences such as the British Association of Veterinary Parasitology Annual Conference (2022) and TAWIRI Scientific Conferences (2017–2020).
