Hosu Kim is an Associate Professor at the College of Staten Island (CUNY) and doctoral faculty in the Critical Social Psychology program at the Graduate Center (CUNY). Her work focuses on intersections of gender, state violence, and transnational adoption in South Korea. She holds a B.S. from Dong-A University, an M.A. from Indiana State University, and a Ph.D. from the CUNY Graduate Center.
Research interests include ethical frameworks for addressing state violence, the politics of memory, and transnational adoption practices. Her book Birth Mothers and Transnational Adoption Practice in South Korea (2016) examines maternal identity in international adoption contexts. Current projects explore disappearances linked to state violence through a methodological lens of 'missing'.
Publications appear in Qualitative Inquiry, Scholars and Feminists Online, and Theoria. She contributes to feminist theories of repair and decolonial ethnography.
