Hossein Asgharian is a Professor at the Department of Economics, Lund University. His research focuses on empirical finance, particularly analyzing the impact of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria on firms and financial risk decomposition using mixed data sampling. He explores how ESG adoption propagates through corporate networks and influences financial performance.
Key research interests include asset pricing, financial risks, networks, spatial statistics, and environmental finance. His recent work examines corporate strategy, stakeholder engagement, credit market dynamics, and institutional trust in financial systems.
Asgharian teaches the Master’s course in Empirical Finance. He leads or collaborates on projects like Mistra BIOPATH and 'Doing well by doing good? Sustainability and performance', investigating sustainability and economic activities. He has supervised PhD students such as Vo Dinh Van and Mustafa Cengiz Kaya.
Notable collaborations include studies on corporate environmental performance networks and lender-borrower dependencies in credit markets. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis, addressing contemporary challenges in finance and sustainability.
