Hossam Tantawy, MD, is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine, serving as Associate Director of Critical Care Medicine and the ICU Fellowship Program. He completed his medical training at Alexandria University (1994), residency in Anesthesiology at Yale New Haven Hospital (2003), and fellowships in Critical Care and Cardiac Anesthesia at Yale (2004). Board-certified in Critical Care Medicine and Perioperative TEE, his expertise spans fluid resuscitation, blood transfusion strategies, and advanced cardiac imaging. His research focuses on perioperative and critical care interventions, including ECMO use in severe respiratory failure and the impact of transfusions on postoperative outcomes.
