Hortense Jongen is an Assistant Professor in International Relations at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a Researcher at the University of Gothenburg's School of Global Studies. She leads the Swedish Research Council-funded project 'Digital Self-Determination for the South? Legitimacy in Regional Internet Registries' (2021–2024). Her research focuses on legitimacy in global governance, particularly in internet governance, anti-corruption mechanisms, multistakeholder frameworks, and mixed-methods approaches. Her work has been published in journals like European Journal of International Relations and Review of International Studies.
