Hope McIntyre serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre and Film at the University of Winnipeg, bringing extensive professional experience as an award-winning playwright, director, and former Artistic Director of Sarasvàti Productions. Her leadership extends to national organizations including PACT’s Environmental Stewardship Committee and the CATR working group on Environmental Stewardship in Theatre and Performance Pedagogy.
Her academic foundation includes:
- BFA in performance from the University of Saskatchewan
- MFA in directing from the University of Victoria
- Performance apprenticeship at ARTTS International in England
McIntyre's research pioneers community-based play creation methodologies and theatre for social change, demonstrated through 22 years developing Sarasvàti Productions' signature programs including FemFest. Her work increasingly integrates environmental stewardship, reflected in her committee leadership and the development of sustainable theatre practices. Recent scholarly output includes the open-sourced textbook 'The Business of Theatre: Pathways to a Career in Theatre', addressing critical gaps in professional training resources.
