Hooman Djaladat

Hooman Djaladat, MD, is a Professor of Clinical Urology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). He specializes in urologic oncology, endourology, and minimally invasive urology, with a focus on complex urologic cancers, robotic surgery, and surgical outcomes research. Dr. Djaladat's academic career includes roles as a faculty member since 2004, with a particular emphasis on upper tract urothelial carcinoma and bladder cancer management.

He completed his medical training at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and a urology residency at Sina Hospital. After training in London, he pursued advanced fellowships in endourology and urologic oncology at USC. He has authored over 220 peer-reviewed articles and pioneered innovations such as a novel Foley catheter design for prostatectomy patients, filed with the U.S. Patent Office.

His research encompasses surgical techniques, clinical trials, and outcomes analysis, particularly through the ROBUUST Collaborative Group. Key areas include nephroureterectomy protocols, robotic surgery efficacy, and the impact of preoperative factors on cancer outcomes. He also investigates disparities in cancer treatment and survival across populations.

Dr. Djaladat’s clinical expertise spans robotic radical prostatectomy, cystectomy with urinary diversion, and management of testicular and bladder cancers. He actively contributes to surgical education, mentoring fellows in minimally invasive techniques and robotic surgery standards.
