Hongyue Sun is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Georgia's College of Engineering. He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, M.S. in Statistics, and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. His research focuses on data-driven solutions for advanced manufacturing, occupational safety, and healthcare systems, funded by NSF, NIOSH, and the U.S. Navy. His work has earned awards such as the SME's Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award (2023) and UB’s Exceptional Scholar: Young Investigator Award (2023).

Research Interests: Dr. Sun's work integrates AI and data analytics into manufacturing processes and occupational safety. Key areas include anomaly detection in production systems (e.g., inkjet printing), liver viability assessment via thermal imaging, and ergonomic risk quantification using wearable sensors. His frameworks often combine Bayesian methods, federated learning, and geometric deep learning for real-world applications.
Publications: Recent work spans AI-driven metamaterial design, cyber-physical system security, and droplet dynamics modeling. His articles reflect a focus on bridging theory and industry applications, such as federated learning for privacy-preserving activity recognition and AGI in IoT systems.
