Hongying Xu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Global Cultures & Languages at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She specializes in Second Language Acquisition, Foreign Language Pedagogy, and Computer-Assisted Language Learning. Her research focuses on innovative teaching methods like flipped classrooms and digital tools to enhance language learning outcomes. Xu holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction & Linguistics from the University of Kansas, and master’s degrees in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, and English Education from Missouri State University, Zhejiang Normal University, and Hangzhou Normal University.
Her teaching responsibilities include courses such as CHI 100 Basic Spoken Chinese, CHI 202 Chinese Language and Culture in Action II, and MLA 306 Introduction to Second Language Acquisition. Xu has presented at conferences like the Annual Conference of Chinese Language Teachers Association and published in journals like the International Journal of Computer-Assisted Language Learning and Teaching.
