Hongbing Sun serves as a Professor in the Department of Earth and Chemical Sciences at Rider University, with academic focus centered on Earth Sciences and environmental health.
He earned his doctorate from Florida State University in 1995, specializing in hydrology and water-soil quality systems. His research spans environmental health, hydrogeology, soil science, coastal oceanography, and environmental toxicology, with current investigations into heavy metal mobilization from road salts, neurodegenerative disease links to soil elements (selenium, sulfur), and water contamination impacts on hypertension/cancer in river watersheds.
Publications reveal consistent focus on contaminant pathways, with recurring themes in heavy metal toxicology, hydrogeological modeling, and environmental epidemiology across journals like Journal of Contaminant Hydrology and Environmental Geochemistry and Health. Teaching responsibilities include Hydrology, Soil Processes, GIS, and Environmental Toxicology.
