Hong-Zhou Ye

Hong-Zhou Ye is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and affiliated with the Institute for Physical Science and Technology (IPST) at the University of Maryland, College Park. He joined the faculty in 2024. His research focuses on developing quantum chemistry-based computational tools for studying functional molecules and materials, particularly in energy storage, pharmaceuticals, and materials science. Key interests include exploiting locality and sparsity in electronic structure calculations, symmetry-aware machine learning (e.g., equivariant neural networks), and improving density functional theory methods.
