Hong Wang is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Medicine. His research focuses on plant cell cycle regulation, protein ubiquitination mechanisms, female gametogenesis, seed aging, and abiotic stress responses. He holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Biology at the University of Saskatchewan, an M.Sc. in Plant Sciences from the University of British Columbia, and a B.Sc. in Agronomy from Huazhong Agricultural University.
His work explores how ubiquitin systems regulate plant development and stress tolerance, with recent studies addressing UBC enzyme functions, seed mRNA stability during aging, and stress signaling pathways. Key projects include genomic analyses of halophytes for salt tolerance and experiments on CDK inhibitor roles in female gametophyte development. Collaborative efforts involve plant-pathogen interactions and molecular mechanisms underlying plant immunity.
Publications span plant molecular biology, genetics, and stress biology, with a focus on Arabidopsis and crop species. His lab contributes to understanding fundamental processes in plant biology with implications for agricultural resilience.
