Hong Wang is a Research Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Pittsburgh. As a Statistician and Interim Director of the UPMC HCC Biostatistics Facility, they design clinical trials (phases I/II), develop novel statistical methods, and analyze data for biomedical studies involving survival analysis, Bayesian toxicity monitoring, and radiation effects on tumor growth.
- BS, Probability and Statistics, Peking University (1988)
- MS, Probability and Statistics, Peking University (1994)
- PhD, Biostatistics, Medical College of Wisconsin (2004)
Their research focuses on clinical trial design, statistical modeling for survival analysis, and applications to preclinical/clinical studies. Key contributions include the additive inverse Gaussian frailty model and log-rank test adjustments for multiple comparisons.
Recent work explores radiation effects on stem cells, microbiota transplants in immunotherapy, and probiotic-driven tumor microenvironment modifications. These studies span oncology, microbiology, and radiation biology, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration.
Labs and teams: UPMC HCC Biostatistics Facility, collaborating with radiation oncologists, immunologists, and cancer biologists on translational research.
