Dr. Hong Le is an Honorary Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Child Health Research Centre within the School of Public Health at the University of Queensland. Their research focuses on environmental health, particularly the impact of air pollution and climate change on children’s respiratory health in Vietnam. Dr. Le holds a PhD in Public Health (2023) from the University of Queensland, Faculty of Medicine.
Key research areas include: air pollution exposure assessment, household and urban environmental health, tobacco control policies, and health behavior studies related to respiratory conditions. Their work integrates epidemiological approaches with community engagement strategies to address health disparities in low-resource settings.
Recent publications highlight innovative methods like biomarker analysis in children exposed to traffic-related pollution, and the protective role of green spaces against heat-related respiratory illnesses. Dr. Le also investigates health beliefs around mask usage, cookstove interventions, and cervical cancer awareness in rural/urban populations.
Collaborations include multi-country studies (FRESH AIR initiative) addressing household air pollution and tobacco use across Asia. Their research has informed policy discussions on diesel price policies to reduce pollution and methadone maintenance program effectiveness.
Labs/Teams: Active member of the Child Health Research Centre and collaborates with the Environmental Health Group at the University of Queensland. Engages with global networks like the Lancet Regional Health Commission and the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology.
