Dr Hong Cai is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Social Sciences, University of Adelaide, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics. She specializes in Chinese linguistics, translation studies, and teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Her research explores Chinese functional syntax/semantics, linguistic landscape analysis, and cross-cultural communication.
Current research projects include 'Nurturing Australia's Little Multilingual Minds' (focusing on bilingual education) and initiatives to enhance intercultural communication through language. She teaches Chinese language/linguistics to undergraduates and supervises MA students in the MAITTC program (Master of Arts in Interpretation, Translation & Transcultural Communication).
Eligible to supervise Masters/PhD candidates in related fields. Active in professional activities promoting language education and cultural exchange.
