Holly Williams is a Lecturer in the Department of Communication at George Mason University. She holds a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with a minor in Media Studies. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes student self-discovery and creating inclusive classroom environments through trust-building exercises and nonverbal communication activities.
Dr. Williams integrates pedagogical approaches such as self-concept diagrams, anonymous polls on intercultural communication, and sensory challenges to explore internal/external conversational dynamics. She adapts these strategies for both in-person and virtual settings, emphasizing spatial navigation and paralanguage techniques in online learning.
Her work focuses on aligning communication theories with real-world applications, fostering vulnerability in discussions of identity, culture, and interpersonal relationships. She maintains regular office hours (Mondays/Wednesdays 1:00-3:00pm) and contributes to departmental initiatives through her curriculum development and community engagement efforts.
