Holly Patch is an academic affiliated with Universität Bielefeld, holding former roles as a Lecturer of English at the Specialized Language Center and a Research Associate in the Department of Gender Sociology (now retired). She earned an MA in Gender Studies from Universität Bielefeld and a BA in Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies with a Music minor from The University of Iowa.
Her research focuses on Trans* Vocality, Gender and (Singing) Voice, exploring intersections of gender identity, voice, and performance. Teaching specialties include Gender Studies, Queer Theory, and interdisciplinary courses on race, sexuality, and cultural analysis.
Awarded honors such as the 2016 German Sociology Association prize and multiple scholarships including DAAD and Phi Beta Kappa, her work bridges sociology and arts through critical examinations of embodied identity. She previously taught courses like 'Vocal Identities: Gender and Race in Musical Performance' and 'Trans* Studies – Narrative, Embodiment, and Experience.'
