Holly J. Travis

Dr. Holly J. Travis is a faculty member in the Biology Department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, affiliated with the John J. and Char Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. She holds a BS in Animal Science from Cornell University, an MS in Biology from IUP, and a DEd in Curriculum and Instruction from IUP.

Her research focuses on science attitude and engagement, soil microarthropod ecology, and native plant applications in green roofs. She teaches BIOL 471/571 (Dendrology of the Eastern US), BIOL 473/573 (Seedless Vascular Plants), and EDUC 451 (Teaching Science in Secondary Schools).

Recent publications highlight her work in science pedagogy, ecological restoration, and plant-insect interactions. Student projects include studying soil microarthropods at the Flight 93 Memorial and assessing science engagement through educational initiatives.
