Holly Guthrey served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Hugo Valentin Centre, Uppsala University, Sweden, in 2017, supported by the IPRA Foundation. Her academic work centers on post-conflict justice mechanisms and their societal impacts.
Her research specializes in transitional justice, examining how top-down approaches (e.g., criminal tribunals, truth commissions) and bottom-up strategies (e.g., customary/grassroots processes) influence local security perceptions and socioeconomic cooperation in post-mass atrocity settings. The project involved comparative field analysis across Bosnia-Herzegovina, Chile, Nicaragua, and Sierra Leone, with Dr. Guthrey leading Chilean case research through in-depth community interviews.
The IPRA Foundation formally acknowledged successful completion of her project titled Enhancing Development and Security on the Ground?: Exploring the Effects of Top-Down and Bottom-Up Post-Conflict Justice and Reconciliation Processes.
