Holger Baumann

Holger Baumann is a Professor in the field of Geoinformation at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Department 3 - Architecture, Facility Management and Geoinformation. He has served as the Director of the Institute for Geoinformation and Surveying (IGV) since 2023 and previously led the Institute for Applied Geoinformatics and Spatial Analyses (AGIRA) from 2009 to 2024.

• Education: Diplom-Ingenieur in Technical Cybernetics and Automation Technology from the University of Magdeburg (1987), Dr.-Ing. (1991).

Research Interests focus on geospatial data systems, including databases and geodatabases, web mapping technologies, programming for GIS applications, and software development. His work bridges theoretical geoinformatics with practical implementation in spatial analysis.

Recent Publications include contributions to dual-degree program design in geoinformatics, reflecting his commitment to applied education models. His 2024 article on the dual Master's program at Anhalt University highlights interdisciplinary collaboration and digital education frameworks.

Leadership Roles: He has held administrative positions such as Vice Dean (2018-2022), Senate member since 2021, and commissions for Information Technology and Digitalization since 2022. He serves as Degree Program Advisor for the part-time online Master's in Geoinformation Systems (beMasterGIS) until 2024.
