Hojin Song

Dr. Hojin Song serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities & Communication within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at California State University, Monterey Bay.

Her scholarly work focuses on the complex interplay between media, culture, and identity formation, with particular emphasis on:

• Gender and media representations
• Motherhood and media
• Digital media and youth culture
• Contemporary Korean media culture
• Food and media relationships

Dr. Song's research examines how media both influence and are influenced by popular culture and identities, especially in the South Korean context. She explores the fundamental connections between food, media, and the formation of both collective and personal identities. Her work provides valuable insights into media globalization processes and cultural hybridity.

Dr. Song teaches a range of media studies courses including Introduction to Mass Communication, Gender Communication, Social Impact of Mass Media, and Social Media Theory and Practice.
