Hisham Sati is a Professor of Mathematics at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and a Global Network Professor at New York University Abu Dhabi. He holds a BS from the American University of Beirut and a PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. As Director of the Center for Quantum and Topological Systems (CQTS) and Associate Dean for Student Success and Curricular Affairs, he bridges mathematics and physics through interdisciplinary research.
- Research Areas: Mathematical Physics, Quantum Field Theory, Differential Geometry, Algebraic Topology, and Geometric and Topological Aspects of Physics.
- Previous Positions: University of Pittsburgh (supervised four PhD students), Yale University (Gibbs Assistant Professor), University of Maryland (Visiting Assistant Professor), and joint Research Associate at Australian National University and the University of Adelaide.
His work explores the interplay between mathematics and physics, focusing on algebraic topology, differential geometry, and quantum field theory. He has delivered the Adams Memorial Lecture in Topology (2016) and organized over ten workshops globally. At NYUAD, he teaches courses like Theory of Everything, emphasizing symmetry and unification in physics.
He has received grants from the US National Science Foundation for interdisciplinary research and collaborated with institutions such as CERN, MSRI, and the Max Planck Institute. His publications span pure mathematics, theoretical physics, and their intersections, including studies on twisted cohomology theories and geometric structures in M-theory.
