Dr. Hillary Topazian is a Visiting Researcher at the School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London, affiliated with the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis. She also serves as an epidemiology consultant for the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) and a member of the African Esophageal Cancer Consortium (AfrECC).
Her primary research focuses on extending deterministic and individual-based mathematical models to optimize malaria eradication strategies, specifically analyzing resource allocation for reducing global Plasmodium parasite burden. She concurrently evaluates the cost-effectiveness of RTS,S/AS01 and R21/Matrix-M malaria vaccines against established interventions like insecticide-treated nets and seasonal malaria chemoprevention.
Prior research encompasses HIV, sickle cell disease, Burkitt’s lymphoma, and cervical cancer. With field experience in Kenya and Malawi, she has collaborated with the U.S. National Cancer Institute’s Center for Global Health, national Ministries of Health, and academic partners. Her work bridges infectious disease modeling, oncology, and epidemiology with emphasis on resource-limited settings.
