Hillary Ridgley serves as Associate Professor of Music Education (Choral) at Shenandoah University's Conservatory, employed since 2020. She holds a Ph.D. in Choral Conducting/Music Education from Florida State University, an M.M.E. from the University of South Carolina, and a B.M.E. from Stetson University.
Her research focuses on:
- Choral text and the poetry of Sara Teasdale in choral music
- Music literacy development
- Community service partnerships in music education
- Field experience design for music therapy students
- Field experience design for choral music education students
As an active conductor and clinician, Dr. Ridgley has directed choirs performing at the National Kodaly Convention, Florida Music Educators Association Conference, Florida ACDA Conference, and Southern Division ACDA Conference. She co-directed the MTC Women’s Prison Glee Club for three years, demonstrating commitment to community engagement through music. Prior to Shenandoah, she taught 12 years in Florida and South Carolina public schools.
