Hilde Hoogenboom is an Associate Professor at Arizona State University (ASU), affiliated with the School of International Letters and Cultures (SILC) and the Melikian Center. Her academic focus centers on 18th- and 19th-century Russian literature, with specialties in Catherine the Great, the Khvoshchinskaya sisters, and the intersection of gender, nobility, and civil society. She holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University (1996) and has held research fellowships at the National Humanities Center and the Social Science Research Council.
Her research explores Russian literature’s European connections, sentimentalism, and gendered narratives. Notable works include *Noble Sentiments and the Rise of Russian Novels* (2023) and a translation of *The Memoirs of Catherine the Great* (2005). She has mentored over 20 graduate and undergraduate students, focusing on topics like Decembrist wives, Soviet constructivism, and Russian civil society.
Hoogenboom has been recognized with awards including the AATSEEL Translation Prize (2018) and serves on editorial boards for *Women Writers in History* and the Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH-EU). Her teaching spans Russian civilization, literature, and theater, emphasizing undergraduate engagement with Enlightenment thought and revolutionary autobiographies.
