Hilde Binford is an Associate Professor of Music at Moravian University, where she has been affiliated since 2001. Her academic work bridges historical musicology, ethnomusicology, and interdisciplinary studies.
Education:

- M.M. in Music History, Rice University
- Ph.D. in Musicology, Stanford University
Research Interests:Dr. Binford specializes in Western Plainchant and the musical traditions of the Old Order Amish, with a broader focus on Western music history from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. She also explores Traditional American music, often integrating historical and cultural contexts into her work.
Professional Activities:She co-directed the first National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Institute for Schoolteachers on 'Bach Across the Centuries' in 2005 and continues to present at international conferences. She develops interdisciplinary courses and coordinates the biennial Moravian music conference.
Personal Engagement:Dr. Binford actively participates in contra-dance bands as a fiddle player and viol da gamba performer. Her personal pursuits include lifelong learning in math, photography, and magic, alongside travel and volunteer work with her two sons, Trent and Alex.
