Hilary Rose is a full-time Associate Professor in Applied Human Sciences at Concordia University since 2003. Prior to this, she taught in the Department of Human Development at Washington State University and worked in the public school system of British Columbia. She is also a Certified Family Life Educator.

Dr. Rose’s research focuses on gender development, sexual identity development, and sexually-confused youth, with an emphasis on risk and resilience frameworks. She also explores stereotyping processes, bullying, at-risk youth, and metatheoretical issues in feminist and family theories. Her recent publications (2022–2012) span topics such as epigenetics, same-sex marriage policy, youth mental health, and residential school trauma.
Dr. Rose has contributed to significant publications like Marriage and Family Review and Journal of Marriage and Family. She has presented at conferences such as the Annual Conference of the Association Francophone pour le Savoir (2007) and the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (2006).
Her theoretical work on Pepper’s world hypotheses bridges philosophical frameworks with practical implications for family scholars and practitioners.
