معرفی
Hilary Callahan is the Ann Whitney Olin Professor of Biological Sciences at Barnard College. She holds an affiliate position in Columbia University's Department of Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Biology. Her research focuses on plant phenotypic plasticity, evolutionary genomics, and responses to global environmental change. She leads the UNPAK Project, a collaborative initiative involving undergraduates in Arabidopsis genetics research.
Education:
- B.A. in Biology, Yale University
- Ph.D. in Botany, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Her work combines experimental genetics with field studies, using model organisms like Arabidopsis thaliana and long-lived shrubs. Key areas include plant trait evolution, drought tolerance mechanisms, and urban green roof ecology. She teaches courses in Ecology, Plant Evolution, and Applied Ecology.
Key Collaborations:
- Arthur Ross Greenhouse directorship with Nicholas Gershberg
- President of Black Rock Forest Consortium Board
Research funding comes from the National Science Foundation, supporting projects on root trait evolution and phenotypic plasticity. Over two decades of mentoring students has produced notable contributions to plant biology and genomics education.
