Hilary Byrne

Dr. Hilary Byrne is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney's Discipline of Medical Imaging Sciences, within the Sydney School of Health Sciences. She holds a PhD from the University of Sydney (2017) and a Physics background from the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on improving radiotherapy through innovations in imaging and therapy, including lung function imaging, nanoparticle radiosensitisation, and motion management via surface monitoring. She is affiliated with the Image X Institute and collaborates with industry partners like 4DMedical. Dr. Byrne teaches in the Master of Medical Physics program and supervises postgraduate students. Her work has been recognized with awards such as the MTPConnect REDI Fellowship (2022–23) and the 2018 Sydney Vital Fellowship in Nanotechnology.
