Professor Hilary Bungay is a leading academic in Arts Health and Wellbeing at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), affiliated with the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Social Care and the School of Allied Health and Social Care. Her research focuses on the transformative role of arts in healthcare, particularly for older populations and children, addressing loneliness, social isolation, and mental health through participatory arts initiatives. She has held leadership roles in cross-faculty networks like the Arts, Health and Wellbeing Network and has supervised numerous doctoral students in health and social care.
Research Expertise: Arts in healthcare, social prescribing, qualitative and mixed-methods research, systematic reviews. Key areas include dance interventions in hospitals, museum-based art activities for older adults, and scaling arts-in-nature programs for children.
