Anna Dadswell is a Research Fellow at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), part of the School of Allied Health and Social Care within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Social Care. Her research focuses on mental health and wellbeing, employing qualitative, participatory, and creative methodologies. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Sussex and an MSc in Health, Community and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Her research interests include feminist approaches to mental health, participatory arts in care settings, and social relationships among marginalized groups. Notable projects include evaluating participatory arts programs for older adults in care homes and studying bullying-related school exclusion among adolescents. She has secured significant grants as a co-investigator, including projects funded by the National Lottery and Arts Council England.
Anna teaches on MA Social Work and International Social Welfare courses, holding an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. She is a core member of ARU’s Participatory Research Group and has presented at international conferences on aging, participatory arts, and violence prevention. Her work emphasizes collaborative approaches to address social inequities in health and wellbeing.
Recent research highlights include exploring care leavers’ experiences during the pandemic and evaluating outreach programs for vulnerable women. She actively contributes to interdisciplinary teams, bridging academic, policy, and community sectors.
