Hikima Baah is an Assistant Professor in Sustainability, Innovation, and Energy Policy at the University of Sussex Business School, affiliated with the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU). She holds a PhD in Sustainable Development from De Montfort University (2016-2021) and an MSc in Economics and International Relations (2014-2015). Her research focuses on NGO-funded Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WaSH) projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasizing challenges in long-term community management and sustainable development.
She has extensive field experience in The Gambia, Kenya, and Ghana as a Sustainability Project Coordinator, collaborating with NGOs to implement regenerative community business models. As a scholar-activist, she prioritizes knowledge translation for social justice and has taught undergraduate and master’s courses in Socioeconomics, International Relations, Energy Policy, and Sustainable Development.
Her professional roles include International Project Coordinator and Community Engagement Facilitator at De Montfort University, supporting strategic partnerships with The Gambia. She is also a consultant for global WaSH organizations.
