Hicran ALKAN's research spans multiple disciplines with a primary focus on child development, early childhood education, and nursing. Her work examines environmental attitudes among child development students, science education for preschool teachers, and assertiveness levels among health services students. She also conducts significant research in microbiology, particularly investigating the antimicrobial properties of various plants including Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana), Hyoscyamus reticulatus, and Trigonella foenum-graecum. Her research bridges educational theory with practical applications in healthcare and child development, creating a unique interdisciplinary approach that addresses both theoretical and practical aspects of early childhood education and healthcare.
Her recent publications show a clear trend toward interdisciplinary research that combines child development with scientific inquiry. While her earlier work focused more on nursing and assertiveness training, her recent publications demonstrate an increasing emphasis on the scientific aspects of child development, including environmental education and science teaching methodologies for young children. She has also maintained her interest in microbiology, particularly in investigating natural antimicrobial compounds from plants, which represents an interesting intersection between healthcare and natural science.
Hicran ALKAN has been involved in several research projects, including studies on antimicrobial and neurological effects of Hyoscyamus Reticulatus seed extract, educational programs for protecting women and children against violence in Kars, and developing assertiveness levels among nurses working in Kars.
She teaches a wide range of courses including First Aid, Development of Educational Tools, Applications in Special Education, Child and Drama, Mother-Child Nutrition, and Child Health and Diseases, demonstrating her comprehensive expertise across multiple aspects of child development and care.
