Hey Rim Jeon is a Professor in the Piano Department at Berklee College of Music, where she has taught since 2010. She is the first Korean faculty member at the institution and was granted early promotion to Professor in 2023. Affiliated with the Professional Performance Division, she is a multi-award-winning pianist, composer, and educator known for her performances at major jazz venues such as Birdland in New York and Scullers in Boston.
Her research and performance interests include jazz improvisation, solo piano, contemporary improvisation, and the integration of Korean musical traditions into jazz. She has developed innovative courses such as Solo Piano Improvisations of Keith Jarrett, emphasizing experiential learning and personal expression.
Her recent musical works, including the critically acclaimed album Groovitude (2022), reflect a deep engagement with jazz standards, original compositions, and cross-cultural expression. Her discography spans over two decades, showcasing her evolution from a classical prodigy to a leading voice in modern jazz.

Jeon is a dedicated mentor, frequently advising students on artistic development, career resilience, and personal challenges, especially for international students. She performs regularly with her ensemble Hey Rim Jeon and Friends and is involved in community and cultural initiatives, including collaborations with the Korean Cultural Center and performances at international jazz festivals.
