Hermann Schwameder is a full Professor and Head of the Department of Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Salzburg, where he also leads the Biomechanics Working Group. His research focuses on biomechanical modeling, human movement analysis, and workload measurement in sports. Key projects include directing the FFG-funded DiMo-Next initiative and the Running Laboratory PLUS.
His research explores kinematic patterns in trail running, locomotor-respiratory synchronization via mobile technology, and clinical shoulder mobility assessments. Schwameder holds leadership roles in scientific societies, including former presidency of the Austrian Society of Sports Science (2018-2022) and the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (2005-2007).
He obtained his doctorate in Sports Science from the University of Salzburg (1994) and completed habilitation in Human Movement Science (2003). Current responsibilities include chairing the Department Council and overseeing graduate curricula in Sport and Exercise Science.
