Herbert Tilg

Herbert Tilg is a Professor and Director of the Department of Internal Medicine I (Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Endocrinology) at Medical University Innsbruck, Austria. He completed a research fellowship at Tufts University under Charles Dinarello and focuses on inflammation, cytokine research, and gut microbiota in gastrointestinal disorders. Tilg serves as an Associate Editor of GUT and has held leadership roles in the European Crohn's Colitis Organisation (ECCO), European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), and United European Gastroenterology (UEG), including Chairman of UEG's Scientific Committee from 2018 to 2021.

Research interests encompass inflammatory bowel diseases, metabolic inflammation, chronic liver diseases, and the role of gut microbiota in gastrointestinal disorders.
