Herbert Masthoff is a Lecturer in the Department of Phonetics at the University of Trier, where he has been an Academic Senior Councilor since 1992. His academic journey includes a Dr. phil. (1984) and MA (1980) from the University of Trier, followed by roles as a Lecturer at the University of Maryland (1980–1988) and Research Associate at Trier (1988–1991).
Masthoff's research spans forensic phonetics, acoustic pattern recognition, and voice disorder analysis.
