Dr. Herbert Marshall serves as Assistant Professor of Music Education at Kent State University's School of Music, specializing in early childhood and general music teacher education within the Online Master of Music in Music Education program since joining the faculty in 2019. With 11 years of P-12 teaching experience in upstate New York and 20 years in higher education, he brings extensive practical expertise to Kent State's Research I institution environment.

Dr. Marshall's research centers on music education methodologies, with emphasis on early childhood development, multicultural approaches, and Music Learning Theory. His work bridges academic theory with practical classroom applications through international workshops and community engagement.
He serves on the advisory board of the Music Educators Journal and the Gordon Institute for Music Learning.
