Dr. Chet-Yeng Loong is a Professor of Music Education and Area Chair at the University of Hawaiʻi's Department of Music. A Malaysian Chinese native, she holds a PhD from Kent State University and degrees from the University of Akron. Her expertise centers on early childhood, elementary, and multicultural music education, with certifications in Orff Schulwerk and Kodály Method. She has presented globally at conferences including ISME, AOSA, and NOCKA, and published in journals like the Bulletin of the International Kodály Society and The Orff Echo.

Her research emphasizes culturally responsive pedagogy and has led to award-winning contributions, including the 2023 Clopton Award. She currently serves on editorial boards for the Korean Journal of Research in Music Education and Malaysia Music Journal, and chairs the Hawaiʻi Orff Schulwerk Association. Dr. Loong pioneered the Pūnaewele Mele project to promote music-based cultural education during school closures.
