Herbert Graves Winful

Herbert Graves Winful is a distinguished academic holding multiple professorships at the University of Michigan: University Diversity and Social Transformation Professor, Joseph E. and Anne P. Rowe Professor of Electrical Engineering, and Arthur Thurnau Professor within the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He also affiliates with the Physics department and the African Studies Center.

Education: BS in Electrical Engineering (MIT, 1975); PhD in Electrical Engineering (University of Southern California, 1981). Professional experience includes roles at GTE Laboratories (1980–1986) before joining Michigan as an Associate Professor (1987), advancing to Full Professor (1992).
