Herbert Claus Leindecker

Herbert Claus Leindecker is a Professor at the University of Applied Sciences Wels, specializing in sustainable architecture and energy-efficient building technologies. He leads the Research Center Wels Center of Excellence Energy, focusing on climate-active construction, lifecycle assessment, and energy flexibility in urban environments.

Education: PhD in Architecture (2001) from the University of Applied Sciences Wels, with a focus on compact building structures as child-friendly living environments in cities.

Research interests include sustainable building design, energy efficiency optimization, thermal comfort, and circular economy practices in construction. His work emphasizes Austrian-specific solutions for urban sustainability and climate resilience.

Recent projects include the klimaaktiv 2023+ initiative (2023-2027) and klimaaktiv 2015+ (2015), both funded by the Climate and Energy Fund. He also developed the MOFNUNG evaluation framework for user satisfaction in buildings (2013-2016).

Received the klimaaktiv Competence Partner award for Settlements and Districts in 2022. Active in professional activities including conference organizing, peer-review for INNOVATIONaward FH Wels, and invited talks on smart buildings and energy storage.
