Herbert Claus Leindecker is a Professor at the University of Applied Sciences Wels, specializing in sustainable architecture and energy-efficient building technologies. He leads the Research Center Wels Center of Excellence Energy, focusing on climate-active construction, lifecycle assessment, and energy flexibility in urban environments.

Recent projects include the klimaaktiv 2023+ initiative (2023-2027) and klimaaktiv 2015+ (2015), both funded by the Climate and Energy Fund. He also developed the MOFNUNG evaluation framework for user satisfaction in buildings (2013-2016).
Received the klimaaktiv Competence Partner award for Settlements and Districts in 2022. Active in professional activities including conference organizing, peer-review for INNOVATIONaward FH Wels, and invited talks on smart buildings and energy storage.
Led over 50 research outputs since 2004, with recent focus on low-tech vs smart building comparisons, energy flexibility criteria, and climate scenario modeling for overheating prevention in office buildings.
