Herald Wilson Ambrose is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering at Aarhus University. His research focuses on mitigating methane emissions from agricultural waste, particularly pig manure storage systems, and integrating renewable energy solutions into biogas systems. He leads projects like CH4VENT (2022-2024) exploring dynamic ventilation control for methane removal and Optihub (2024-2025) optimizing Power-to-X methanation processes.
His work combines experimental research with techno-economic analysis, addressing both biochemical processes and system-level engineering challenges. Key projects include surfactant/oxidant treatments for manure management and modeling carbon loss in storage environments. Ambrose collaborates on interdisciplinary studies linking environmental engineering to sustainable agriculture.
Recent publications emphasize surfactant efficacy, dose-dependent suppression mechanisms, and mathematical modeling of aerobic/anaerobic degradation pathways. His research bridges laboratory-scale experiments with industrial-scale applications, aiming to reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions while improving resource efficiency.
