Dr Henry West is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and holds an honorary Post-Doctoral Research Fellow position at the University of Oxford's Translational Cardiovascular Research Group. He completed his DPhil as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, focusing on imaging biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases. His expertise spans cardiovascular imaging, big data analytics, and translational research, with a focus on atrial fibrillation and ischaemic stroke prediction using CT technologies.
Education: BMedSc (Hon) and MBBS from the University of Tasmania, followed by a DPhil in cardiovascular imaging at the University of Oxford. He is currently completing physician training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital while maintaining research roles.
Research focuses on novel CT biomarkers, including epicardial adipose tissue quantification and radiotranscriptomic approaches. Key projects include the ORFAN Study cohort (100,000+ patients) and collaborations with institutions like the Cleveland Clinic and Sorbonne University. He leads international projects such as the EU-funded MAESTRIA Consortium.
