Henry T. Yang serves as Chancellor of the University of California, Santa Barbara, and holds the rank of Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering within the College of Engineering. His academic journey includes a BS in Civil Engineering from National Taiwan University, an MS in Structural Engineering from West Virginia University, and a PhD in Structural Engineering from Cornell University.
Yang's research focuses on advanced structural mechanics, materials science, and aerospace engineering applications. He has authored over 170 peer-reviewed articles and a seminal textbook on finite element structural analysis. His expertise spans composite materials, transonic aeroelasticity, and intelligent manufacturing systems, with active involvement in NSF-funded research.
