Dr Henry Staines is a Senior Lecturer in Global Health at City St George’s, University of London, and a member of the Infection and Immunity Research Institute. He serves as the MRes Biomedicine Infection & Immunity Pathway Lead.
- BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Kent at Canterbury
- DPhil in Cellular Physiology from the University of Oxford
His research focuses on parasitology and molecular diagnostics, particularly solute transport mechanisms in Plasmodium and related parasites. Key areas include drug target characterization, drug resistance pathways, and host-parasite transport interactions.
Dr Staines has secured significant funding from organizations such as the Wellcome Trust, MRC, European Union FP7, and H2020. His work spans functional transport assays, parasite culture, heterologous protein expression, and PCR-based technologies.
