Henry Liu

Henry Liu, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. He earned an MD and MS from Tongji Medical College (1978–1986) and is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Echocardiography by the American Board of Anesthesiology (1999). His research spans obstetric analgesia, cardiomyocyte biology, healthcare workforce dynamics, perioperative process engineering, and automation in perioperative care, complemented by clinical expertise in clinical anesthesia, multimodal analgesia, cardiothoracic anesthesia, and transesophageal echocardiography.

Recent trends in Dr. Liu’s research include advancements in pharmacologic analgesia for cesarean sections, differential susceptibility to anesthetics like Propofol and Ketamine, and the integration of virtual reality for postoperative pain management. His work on Secukinumab’s effects in aged mice bridges neuroimmunology and geriatric care, while narrative reviews address acute pain prediction in obstetric settings.
